AviationStack connects your agent to real-time aviation data, so it can answer flight status, airport schedule, and airline questions in the conversation. Use it for travel, hospitality, or transport agents whose customers ask about flights.

## What you can do

- **Track flights in real time**: current status, gate information, and estimated arrival and departure times for thousands of flights worldwide.
- **Read airport schedules**: live arrival and departure boards for airports globally.
- **Look up airlines**: airline details, including fleet and IATA/ICAO codes.
- **Answer on every channel**: flight and airport information works on all enabled channels (web chat, WhatsApp, SMS, voice).

## Before you start

AviationStack is built into Link AI's tools, so there is no account to connect. Usage counts against your plan's limits:

- The number of searches your agent can make
- The number of actions your agent can take

## Connect

### Enable AviationStack
Open the agent, go to the **Actions** tab, find the **AviationStack** section, toggle it on, and save.

### Update the instructions
In the agent's instructions, define its role in providing aviation information. For example: "You are a travel assistant who provides real-time flight status, airport schedules, and airline details using our aviation tools."

### Test it
Ask the agent "What is the status of flight AA123?" or "Show me departures from LAX."

You should see the agent return current flight or schedule information in the test chat.

## Use it in an agent

- **Ask for specifics.** Encourage customers to give flight numbers or IATA codes for the most accurate results.
- **Keep voice answers short.** On voice and phone, instruct the agent to give only the critical details (status, gate, time).
- **Use airport codes.** Make sure the agent understands common codes (JFK, LHR, CDG) for accurate schedules.
- **Watch usage.** Track AviationStack usage so you stay within your plan limits.

## Troubleshooting

**No flight data found**
Check that the flight number is correct and that the flight is active or scheduled within the API's look-back window.

**Request limits exceeded**
When you reach your plan's limit, the agent tells customers the data is currently unavailable. Upgrade your plan for higher limits.

**Airline or airport not covered**
AviationStack covers most global airports, but check that the specific airlines or airports you need are supported by its data providers.

**Integration not working**
Check that AviationStack is enabled in the agent's **Actions** tab and that your plan includes this integration.
