Slack

Deploy your Link AI agent into Slack for DMs, channel @mentions, thread replies, and the /ally slash command.

Deploy your Link AI agent into Slack. Once connected, Ally or one of your custom agents replies in DMs, channel @mentions, thread replies, and the /ally slash command, using the same knowledge and skills it has everywhere else.

What you can do

CapabilityWhat it does
Direct messagesTeam members DM the Link AI bot in Slack and get agent replies.
@mentionsMention the bot in any channel it is in and it replies in that thread.
Thread repliesThe agent keeps context and continues the conversation inside a thread.
/ally slash commandAsk a question from anywhere with /ally your question. Slack acknowledges privately, then posts the reply.

Choose what answers in Slack

Each Slack connection routes to exactly one of the following:

  • Ally, your personal agent. All Slack messages go to Ally.
  • A specific agent, one of your custom agents. All Slack messages go to that agent.

The assignment is exclusive. Switching from one to the other automatically clears the previous choice, so there is never any confusion about who is answering. You set this in the Slack tile inside Integrations.

How to connect

  1. Open DashboardIntegrationsSlack.
  2. Click Connect.
  3. A Slack window opens asking you to authorize Link AI for your Slack workspace. Approve it.
  4. You are returned to Link AI with Slack connected.
  5. In the Slack tile, pick what should answer:
    • Ally, your personal agent, or
    • A specific agent from your agents list.
  6. From Slack, anyone in that workspace can now DM the bot, mention it in a channel, or use /ally.

Note: Installing the app into Slack is an admin action. If you are not a Slack admin, your admin approves the install first.

How it works

  • Messages from Slack are verified, then routed to your chosen agent.
  • Replies are posted back into the same DM or thread, so conversations stay in context.
  • The agent uses the same knowledge base, tools, and skills it uses in chat and other channels.

Troubleshooting

  • The bot does not reply in a channel: Make sure the bot has been added to that channel, and that you mentioned it directly with @.
  • /ally says not connected: Your Slack workspace has not finished connecting to any Link AI workspace yet. Run the Connect flow first.
  • DM sent, no reply: Confirm an agent is assigned in the Slack tile (Ally or a specific agent). With no assignment, there is nothing to answer.
  • Replies stopped after removing the app: If the app was uninstalled or its access was revoked in Slack, the connection deactivates automatically. Reconnect from IntegrationsSlack.
  • Wrong agent is answering: Open the Slack tile and switch the assignment. The previous choice clears automatically when you pick a new one.

Notes

  • Disconnecting Slack removes only the connection. Your agents and their settings are untouched.
  • Each Slack workspace connects to one Link AI workspace and routes to one agent at a time.
